Barbara: Born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa with Swiss German parents Swiss German was spoken at home

Studied Chemistry at University of Cape Town, recently completed a Nursing diploma in Switzerland and is currently doing home nursing in Switzerland

Enjoys socializing (also known as Nordic talking) reading, bridge and golf.

Paul: Born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and grew up in Ladysmith and Kimberley. Mother tongue English, fluent in German, Swiss German (Own dialect!) and a bit of Afrikaans.

Studied Pharmacy at Rhodes University, Grahamstown

During my entire career I have worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry in Production, Quality Insurance and Project Management ending at Novartis Pharma AG

Enjoys hiking, playing golf, motorbiking and Jethro Tull. I live by the motto ‘c’est la vie!’ and aim to enjoy the good things in life

We both have South African and Swiss passports.

Barbara and Paul met in Johannesburg, South Africa and where we also got married. Our honeymoon we spent in Switzerland and never made it back to South Africa!

Since then 30 years have passed, we have 2 wonderful children Tim and Lara both currently at University studying Information Technology and Communications respectively. We settled in the Northwest of Switzerland in the village of Magden, in Canton Aargau which is in the close vicinity of Basel.

2019 and a career change is on the horizon – and this is where ZACHtours was born.
